Painting Commissions

Have you ever witnessed a stunning sunset and wished you could capture that moment forever? Perhaps there’s a location that’s close to your heart that you want to see every day.

Commissioning a painting allows you to get a bespoke painting, created just for you.

It all begins with an idea. Whether you have a special landscape you would like to have painted, you want to give a meaningful painting as a gift, or you would like bespoke artwork to compliment your colour scheme at home, I’d love to hear your ideas.

Spring Time in Linton Bespoke Art Commission

Spring time in Linton

Painting commissions has a very special place in my heart. I find it a huge honour to create a bespoke piece of art for my clients and believe that the process should be very personal and treasured by both my client and myself.

All of my painting commissions are bespoke to the client’s requests. Prior to painting, I will meet with you, either in your home or in my studio, to discuss your ideas and where the painting will be hung.

It’s important to me that the end-piece complements your style and fits in well with your home. It’s also deeply important to me that my commissioned painting captures the essence of your idea. I want the painting to hold special meaning and value to you as I use my artistic skills to bring your idea to life.

I will also take care of framing for you. I work with a top-quality local framer based in Harrogate to ensure your commissioned artwork is ready to hang upon delivery.

Below are some examples of my recent art commissions. For more examples of my work or to discuss ideas for a commission, please get in touch.

Recent art commisions

  • Spring time in Linton Art Commission - Sarah Jane Nicholls Art

    Spring time in Linton

I’ve painted some beautiful gardens and this one was no exception. My clients wanted to have the sunlight bursting through the trees and picked the colours to compliment an existing original painting that was going in the same room.

  • Snailbeach Church Art Commission - Sarah Jane Nicholls Art

    Snailbeach Church

What a gorgeous place to get married. This painting was done to celebrate the wedding anniversary for a couple that got married in Snailbeach Church in Shropshire. It’s painted on the front and back of a sheet of glass in acrylic paint. Little personal touches were added to the painting; such as Laburnun in front of the church (which was something memorable from my clients childhood), making the graveyard brighter and more like a meadow and adding the couples initials above the church door.

  • Blue and Yellow Art Commission - Sarah Jane Nicholls Art

    Blue & Yellow

This large commission is painted in tens of thousands of tiny dots on both sides of a sheet of acrylic. The effect is very intricate and the dots look like little yellow and black balls.

  • Central Park Art Commission - Sarah Jane Nicholls Art

    Central Park

I was commissioned to paint this as a wedding present. It’s where the couple got engaged in Central Park, New York (lucky things). This is painted on the front and back of one sheet of glass with the buidlings behind on another sheet of glass. This gives the feeling of depth. The couples initials were painted on one of the tree trunks to look like they had been scratched into the tree. I call this my ‘true love trees’.

  • Beautiful Wedding Venue Art Commission - Sarah Jane Nicholls Art

    Beautiful Wedding Venue

I was asked to paint this as a belated wedding present for a couple who got married at this beautiful venue. My client loved a particular view of the manor house through a wooded area but wanted it to be brighter. I added lots of spring flowers to give it a lift from the original photo and make it lighter. The couples initials were painted onto one of the silver birch trees. It was painted in acrylic on artists board.

  • Yew Tree Garden Art Commission - Sarah Jane Nicholls Art

    Yew Tree Garden

It was such a pleasure painting this garden. It must be one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. This was commissioned as a 50th Birthday present. My client chose this particular spot in the garden as this is her husband’s favourite tree. This is painted on the front and back of a sheet of glass in acrylic paint. I visited the garden a few times and painted using the many photos I took.

  • Spring Cottage Art Commission - Sarah Jane Nicholls Art

    Spring Cottage

This painting was created from a mood board of ideas generated by both myself and my client. The colour pallet used complimented my clients interior. ‘Spring Cottage’ is painted in acrylic on canvas.

  • Blossom Magic Art Commission - Sarah Jane Nicholls Art

    Blossom Magic

I’ve recently been working on a few blossom paintings, some as commissions and others for my collection. My client saw one of these that I had posted on instagram and had asked me to paint one for a particular wall. It’s painted on a bespoke canvas and works so well in the position they had chosen.

  • The Parker Circle Abstracts Art Commission - Sarah Jane Nicholls Art

    The Parker Circle Abstracts

My client had previously seen my other paintings in this style but wanted bespoke pieces to match her interior setting. I met with my client in her home and had a wonderful meeting discussing ideas for the colours and how they would work in her space. These paintings were hung on opposite walls which had quite a dramatic effect.

  • Colour Collaboration Art Commission - Sarah Jane Nicholls Art

    Colour Collaboration

This was a very exciting brief. My client asked me to create this and another piece to complement the colours in their other pieces of art which they had collected.. The colours they liked were incredible; beautiful bright neon pinks, orange and greens.
